It's about that time...

I know it's no surprise to anyone that I'm behind in my blogging. I keep wondering if I'll ever get the hang of writing shorter stories on a more consistent basis - instead of mammoth-sized recap stories every once in a great while. One can never have too many goals! ;)

So a few short weeks back - we spent Mother's Day weekend up in Dallas at Aunt Shelley and Uncle Jim's house. We had big plans to spend Mother's Day on their boat out on the lake...and then I had to go and ruin everything by getting sick earlier that morning. :( I was sick all day long! I thought it perfectly acceptable that everyone go along without me and enjoy a day out on the lake (while I made myself comfortable on the cold tile next to the bathroom toilet). Much to my embarrassment - they decided not to go because I wasn't feeling well! I felt so horribly guilty that I had ruined everyone's weekend fun! Guilt and nauseousness don't make for a lovely Mother's Day!! Of all days to be sick! Dang blast it!! We headed back home that night since Jason had to work the next morning and it wasn't very enjoyable let me tell you! I was sick all the way home and Katie (who is very fond of screaming at the top of her lungs whilst strapped down in her car seat) made sure to express her feelings of disapproval ALL the way home. Ugh! Thankfully I was all better when I woke up the next morning.

During that week - the girls enjoyed playing with each other (Kristin is enjoying Katie even more now - now that Katie can run around and reek havoc alongside her), they discovered their favorite cookie (for now anyways) - Cool mint creme Oreos, Kristin was infatuated with a new puzzle and both of the girls were very excited about the new shopping carts at the commissary! It doesn't take much to amuse them - that's for sure! ;)

Partners in crime...

"We love green Oreos!"

"Aren't you so proud of me Mommy?"

Our favorite shopping carts!!

The following weekend, we drove up to Aunt Shelley and Uncle Jim's again to celebrate Michael's birthday, so he wouldn't have to spend his birthday all alone up in his tiny apartment up in Oklahoma. On our way up there, Kristin was busy at work drawing pictures on her Doodle Pro. After a little while she was all out of ideas and she started asking me for some. So I said, "Draw Aunt Shelley's house." She then proceeded to follow my suggestion and this is what she came up with:

Then she asked, "Now what should I draw Mommy?" I told her, "Uh...draw our house." And this is what she showed us when she was finished:

We couldn't help but laugh - they're pretty accurate drawings (comparison-wise). Here is a real picture of their house and ours:

Sheesh!

This weed-infested lawn has got to go!!

Now you can see why she views our house as little more than a speck in comparison to Aunt Shelley's house! ;)

The next morning we spent the day out on the lake on Uncle Jim's boat! I even went out for a spin on the jet ski with Jason! It's a lot more fun that I thought it would be! Riding behind Jason is terrifying though!! He's crazy!

Me, Micah and Kristin watching everyone else prepare the boat for departure

We don't seem to mind that other people are hard at work and we aren't... ;)

Micah swinging on a rope by the dock

Apparently Jason couldn't figure out a manlier way to swing... ;)

Jason and our little Kristin-poo

Katie stayed like this for the majority of the ride...

...and also like this...

Jason and Kristin enjoying the view at the front of the boat

The captain of the boat...

Jason and Kristin going out for a swim around the boat

Mike and our cousin Becky taking the new jet ski out for its maiden voyage

Me holding on to Jason for dear life!

Letting go of my death grip only long enough to smile for the camera!

Yay! It's my turn!!

Katie having a conversation with her Great Grandma Capra

Michael preparing to water ski

Jason taking Kristin out for a ride

Katie passed out on her Uncle Michael

Still passed out after getting off the boat (why can't she stay asleep like this when we stop the car?)

Later that night, we celebrated Michael's 25th birthday. Our cousin, Rissy made him a scrumptious Sponge Bob cake. Something went horribly wrong with the frosting, but don't let the cake's drippy/melted appearance fool you - it was still a really yummy cake!

The Grand Revealing of Michael's birthday cake! ;)

Micah, Michael, Jason and Mark ready to eat birthday cake

Michael does not appear to be amused by Jason's excitement over mini beers... ;)

Hopefully Michael appreciates that we drove all the way up to Dallas to celebrate his birthday...he can be so ungrateful sometimes... ;)

Gas to and from Dallas - $80.00
Presents and party decorations for Michael's birthday - $100.00
The look on Michael's face when he sees his disastrous birthday cake...priceless. ;)
